How I Rented Myself To Poverty pt2
Renting is a great thing especially with items that you will only use for a short time. However, the only good move I have made so far with renting is renting my house instead of falling into a trap that was being set for me by my mortgage broker. When I look at my friends, some are even worse than I am. I have shown you how I rented myself to poverty, now this is my friends turn to show you how they rented themselves to poverty.
1. Handbags and Personal Effects
I know this seems crazy but yes my friend did go renting handbags. I think the site is from bags to riches or something like that. Google it. It looks like a great idea. If you like fashion, rent a bag for like $50 per month and return it for another when you are tired of the fashion.
I know the ladies can see the sense in that but the problem is that I have never met any lady who will be satisfied with only 1 bag. My friend ended up spending over $500 in new fashions monthly. She would get annoyed when we would not notice the bags. In the end, she had lost over $3000 which would have bought her a great many bags and we might actually have noticed over time.
2. Car Rims
Oh yes car rims can be rented and thanks to Xibit and Pimp My Ride, it is now a great industry. I took a trip to Kenya and found some dealers actually doing it and returning to the states was shocked to learn from my roommate that he actually rented those "pimped out rims" he has.
I do not need to know the figures for this but if you are renting your car rims , you have serious personality issues. There is absolutely nothing economical about renting car rims .In fact I hazard to say that the furniture I rented may have impressed a few of my visitors, but car rims?
3. Payday Loans
Payday loans are basically you renting your own pay check. In my view, this industry should just be destroyed. I had a friend in Iraq and his wife survived on pay day loans. You borrow to pay your last pay day loans with interest rates that should make these crooks blush. Even the mafia would get you a little protection if you paid them.
Pay day loans are the worst thing you can do to your family. Swallow some pride, sell that tv and home theatre system and go borrow from your friends and family. If they love you,they will not let you near a pay day loan facility. I know it’s hard, but once you enter these loan schemes, you will never get out and that is a sad fact.
