Getting The Most out of Life - Life’s Passions
Life they say, is for living.
I beg to differ. In my view life is for discovery, passion, purpose. It has no point if it isn’t lived fully with all its worth, for all intents and purposes, exciting, free falling. At this point I too share the opinion that anyone reading this who has started frowning and doing so in a manner likely to suggest that I have taken something not available over the counter. This is not so. With this article I intend to make use of your innate curiosity about merely being here. It is my wish that you make something out of merely existing .You are here and you will be gone in a while. Why leave it up to fate? Get busy. Make the most of it
When we set up a business, a company, anything we intend to use to make money, we research, we do a background check, we look at others who have gone before. We read up about it , we look for the best available options:- location, partners, ground support and longevity. Why don’t we do the same for life, living, just as it is? Because largely, we’re clueless
So here’s a list of clues
1. Passion for Life
Write down what excites you the most when you’re doing it. Typing is easier but there is a distinct correlation between the use of the pen and the flow of the mind. Is there an activity which feels effortless and easy and you would love to do every day if it was possible. Something which you would wake up in the middle of the night to do without complaining. Know what that is? Passion. That is what is defined as something which you are ‘passionate ‘ about
2.Purpose of life
What adds meaning to your life? What drives you to succeed? Why do you get out of bed every morning and go to your place of business. It could be the love of money, it could be the rush you get when you finally solve a problem.
Often its the immense feeling of satisfaction you get when you beat a deadline. Sometimes its the vanity of being ahead of everyone else. It could be as simple as just plain fear. Don’t dismiss fear offhand. Many careers have reached their peak driven by fear; the fear of poverty being the most motivating factor amongst the human population.
But, on to happier things. Numerous books and titles in hundreds of years have explored this conundrum. we are not going to do that today. Ask yourself why. In the why you will define your purpose.
3. Direction of Life
So, you have now identified what you love doing most. You have the reasons for doing it.
Where do we go from here?
a. Find like minds - This is actually fairly easy. Look for people in your area who also love doing what do or have become good at doing it with years of experience. Can’t find anyone? Work smart.Join the information super highway, that beautiful thing we call the internet. Let these like minds fuel your passion, stimulate you give you new ideas on how to go forward.
b. Read - If you can’t read books ( hey, we ‘re not all created equal) read magazines, brochures, company manuals, anything. Every time man finds out something important to him he writes up on it. If its been done its been documented.
c. Learn - To be able to build a road map on your new mission and vision you will need to apply the knowledge you have acquired so far, motivate yourself or get motivation from an external source (spouses are made for times like these) Putting knowledge into action is called learning.
You’re bound to fall down a few times, miss a few turnings but you now know where you’re going and how to get there. Time and error and finding the right ingredients.
Apply yourself. Align all your actions towards your passion, Remember it will be battle at first. It gets easier as you go along. Good luck, strangers.
